Portugal bans Carvalho for one year

Ricardo Carvalho was banned for one year year-old out of next year's Euro 2012 finals, should Portugal advance.

Carvalho has played 75 matches for Portugal from 2003-11, but the Real Madrid defender likely ended his international career when he walked out on the team last month.

He was upset about being left out of the starting lineup for a Euro qualifier against Cyprus, and left the team's camp without notice. Carvalho faced up to a two-year ban.
