Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed pitcher Charlie Morton on the 15-day disabled list following another rough outing on Saturday.
Morton, who underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right hip in late September, was rocked for six runs -- five earned -- and walked five batters in just 1 2/3 innings in the Pirates' 6-4 loss at Philadelphia on Saturday. The effort raised the right-hander's earned run average to 8.47 this spring.
The Pirates had tabbed Morton to start the team's fifth game of the season Saturday in Milwaukee. Vance Worley will instead draw that assignment.
Worley went 8-4 with a solid 2.85 ERA in 18 games (17 starts) for Pittsburgh last season, but was edged out by Jeff Locke for the final rotation spot in the spring.
