PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns' roster makeover will leave them with plenty of room to grow.
After trading two-time league MVP Steve Nash to the hated Lakers and allowing Grant Hill to leave in free agency, the Suns struggled to their second-worst record in franchise history.
Phoenix cost popular coach Alvin Gentry his job before the All-Star break and wasn't much better on interim coach Lindsey Hunter, finishing 25-57 and 31 games behind the Clippers in the Pacific Division. That's the Suns' worst record since their inaugural season in 1968-69, when they went 16-66.
Phoenix has salary-cap space and a stockpile of draft picks, so the future could get better.
