Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies signed right- handed pitcher Dustin McGowan to a major league contract on Saturday.
McGowan, 33, was released by the Dodgers after allowing six runs in eight innings competing for a spot in Los Angeles' bullpen. The Dodgers signed McGowan to a one-year contract in February.
In 2014, McGowan made 53 appearances (eight starts) for the Blue Jays. In 82 innings, he posted a 4.17 ERA and 61 strikeouts.
Due to repeated shoulder injuries, McGowan has been limited to 128 2/3 innings over the last six years and missed the entire season in 2009, 2010 and 2012.
