Phillies release Gaudin
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Clearwater, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies announced on Thursday that the club has released right-handed pitcher Chad Gaudin after he failed his physical.
Gaudin signed a minor league deal with the Phillies in January and could have filled roles as a long man out of the bullpen or a spot starter when called upon.
The 30-year-old Gaudin was 5-2 with a 3.06 earned run average in 30 games (12 starts) for the San Francisco Giants last year. He was placed on the disabled list in mid-August with carpal tunnel syndrome, ending his season.
