Petrov headed to Espanyol

Veteran forward Martin Petrov is headed to Espanyol after completing a move to the club on Monday.

The Bulgaria international will suit up in La Liga for the remainder of the season after arriving from English Championship side Bolton.

Petrov has experience in the Spanish top flight having played with Atletico Madrid, where he scored four goals in 42 appearances from 2005-2007.

Petrov, who has also played for Swiss side Servette and Wolfsburg of the German Bundesliga, has 19 goals in 88 international appearances for Bulgaria.

The 33-year-old attacker figures to help Espanyol attempt to fight off relegation as they sit fifth from bottom with just 18 points from 19 matches, two above the drop zone.
