Petkovic rolls into quarterfinals at Brisbane

Second-seeded German Andrea Petkovic Strycova to advance to the opening Brisbane International tennis event.
Petkovic, who was last year's Brisbane runner-up to Czech slugger Petra Kvitova, battled through the first set before dominating the second to take a 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 victory, while converting on 4-of-11 break chances.
In other action involving seeds on Day 3, Italy's Francesca Schiavone, who is seeded third, served up six aces and saved 8-of-9 break opportunities by Galina Voskoboeve of Kazakhstan on the way to a 6-4, 6-4 decision.

Also advancing was Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova as she overcame a first-set loss to outlast American Vania King in a match that lasted over two hours in a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win.
Former World No. 1 Serbian Ana Ivanovic is also scheduled to face Belgium's Kim Clijsters, the tournament's fifth seed, on Tuesday.
The winner of this $220,000 tournament will collect $110,000.
