PHILADELPHIA – Miles Cartwright scored 18 points and Pennsylvania beat Yale 66-58 on Friday night for its second straight win.
The Quakers never trailed and built their biggest lead at 24-6 with 9:09 remaining in the first half.
The Bulldogs pulled to within four several times in the second half but Penn secured the win at the free-throw line. The Quakers made 18 of 21 free throws (85.7 percent) in the second half and were 9 of 10 from the line in the final 1:38. Penn shot only 31.6 percent (6 of 19) from the field in the second half.
Zack Rosen added 16 points, Jack Eggleston had 13 and Tyler Bernardini 10 for the Quakers (7-8, 1-0 Ivy League).
Greg Mangano scored 20 points and Porter Braswell added 19 for the Bulldogs (9-8, 2-1), who had a four-game winning streak snapped. The loss prevented the Bulldogs from their first 3-0 conference start since the 1999-2000 season.
