Pause inks contract extension with Fire

The Chicago Fire announced Tuesday that midfielder Logan Pause has signed a contract extension to keep him at the club through 2013.

Pause, 30, just finished his ninth season with the Fire and amassed career highs in games (29) and starts (28). The team captain was primarily utilized in the center of midfield, but at times deputized at right back.

"Logan has been a valuable asset to this club for a decade now," Fire head coach Frank Klopas said in a statement. "Logan is a great leader for our younger players on the field and in the locker room and personifies our tenets of tradition, honor and passion."

The deal makes Pause one of the most tenured players in franchise history. With 227 regular-season appearances, he trails only C.J. Brown (296) for most appearances in club history.
