Seeking a boost to their return game, the Carolina Panthers agreed to terms on a contract with wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. on Friday.
The Charlotte Observer reported the deal to be for one year.
Ginn owns six return touchdowns (3 kickoffs, 3 punts) over six NFL seasons and finished third in the NFC with a 10.3 average taking back punts while with San Francisco last year. The former first-round pick is also one of only 12 players in league history to return a kickoff and a punt for a score in the same game, doing so with the 49ers in 2011.

For his career, Ginn has averaged 11.0 yards on punt returns and 23.2 yards on kickoffs. The Panthers finished just 22nd in the NFL in kickoff return average a season ago.
As a receiver, Ginn has recorded 161 career catches for 2,048 yards and six touchdowns, with a high of 56 receptions totaling 790 yards for the Miami Dolphins in 2008. The 27-year-old was utilized almost exclusively on special teams with the 49ers last season, however.
