Spartanburg, SC – The Carolina Panthers suffered a big blow to their offense Thursday when it was learned wide receiver David Gettis tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Gettis, who injured the knee during practice Wednesday, was penciled in as a returning starter after catching 37 passes for 508 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season. Now, though, he's likely going to miss the upcoming season.
Because of the injury, Brandon LaFell and Legedu Naanee are expected to compete for the other wide receiver starting spot opposite Steve Smith.
