Pak out with shoulder injury

Hall of Famer Se Ri Pak announced on Friday she will be out of action for an indefinite period of time after a shoulder injury.

Pak slipped on stairs Tuesday and hurt her shoulder bracing herself against a railing. She was diagnosed with a slight tear in the labrum of her left shoulder.

She withdrew from this week's Mobile Bay LPGA Classic and said she will opt for rehab in an attempt to avoid surgery.

"Right now, there is no timeline for my return to the LPGA, but I know the next two months of rehab will be important for my recovery," Pak said in a statement. "I have a positive outlook and I fully expect to return to the LPGA Tour as soon as the time is right.

"I would like to thank the medical staff of the LPGA, the staff at Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama, and Dr. Andrews and his staff at the Andrews Institute for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine for their excellent care. I would also like to thank the fans for their support and concern."

Pak is in both the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame. She is a 25-time winner on the LPGA Tour and has two top 10s so far in the 2012 campaign.
