Fired Milwaukee Bucks coach Larry Drew says his swift termination came as a surprise

In a statement issued by his former team Thursday, Drew says his tenure was brief, but it will forever be memorable.

New owners Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry fired Drew earlier this week and replaced him with former Brooklyn Nets' coach Jason Kidd.

Drew thanked former owner Herb Kohl and general manager John Hammond for the opportunity to coach the Bucks this past season. He also thanked the Bucks' fans for their love and support. He says he wishes the Bucks' organization and the city of Milwaukee nothing but the best in the future.
