Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles acquired catcher Nick Hundley from the San Diego Padres in exchange for relief pitcher Troy Patton on Saturday.
The Orioles, who could be without starting catcher Matt Wieters for an extended period of time, add a veteran presence behind the plate in Hundley, who has batted .271 with a home run and three RBI with the Padres this season.
Hundley has spent his entire seven-year career in San Diego, compiling a .238 average with 47 home runs and 195 RBI. He set career highs in homers (13) and RBI (44) last season.
Patton has pitched to a 3.26 ERA in 140 career games over the past five years with the Orioles, but has struggled to an 8.10 ERA in nine games this season.
The Orioles also recalled infielder Steve Lombardozzi from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday.
