Oregon State outlasts Jackrabbits in first round

Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Sydney Wiese netted 23 points to pace her third-seeded Oregon State Beavers past the 14th-seeded South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 74-62, in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament at Gill Coliseum.
Ruth Hamblin tallied 17 points and seven rebounds, and Ali Gibson chipped in with 16 points and five boards to help Oregon State (27-4). Deven Hunter pulled down a team-best 12 rebounds in the win.
Oregon State moves on to the second round of the tournament, and will face the 11th-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs on Sunday.

Macy Miller and Megan Waytashek each scored 14 points to lead South Dakota State (24-9). Miller also grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists, and Waytashek added five boards.
Oregon State held a 38-31 advantage in rebounding, and outscored the Jackrabbits from the free-throw line, 19-6, to earn the victory.
