WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Frank Hassell scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Kent Bazemore added 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead Old Dominion over William & Mary 69-53 on Wednesday night.
The Monarchs (19-6, 10-4 Colonial Athletic Association) led 33-25 at halftime after shooting 46.4 percent from the floor (13 of 28) in the opening half. Old Dominion started the second half on a 21-7 run, taking its largest lead, 54-32, with 9:37 left to play.
Marquel De Lancey added 12 points for the Monarchs, who outscored the Tribe 42-10 in the paint, posted a 44-21 rebounding advantage and scored 21 second-chance points to none.
Julian Boatner scored 15 points for the Tribe (7-18, 3-11), who shot 38.6 percent from the field (17 of 44). Brandon Britt and Quinn McDowell added 13 apiece.
The Monarchs have won five of six and William & Mary has dropped six of seven.
