NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma offensive lineman Jacob Reed has been suspended and charged with hitting his ex-girlfriend after breaking into her apartment over the weekend.
Court records indicate that burglary and assault charges against the 23-year-old Reed were filed Monday in Cleveland County District Court. School spokesman Pete Moris says Reed was suspended indefinitely while the matter is pending.
An affidavit filed in the case accuses Reed of breaking into the apartment early Sunday morning and striking her and a man who was also present. The affidavit says the woman was struck in the nose and chest and that one of Reed's punches grazed the man's left ear.
A native of Ardmore, the 309-pound, 6-foot 4-inch Reed played in one game for the 16th-ranked Sooners last year.
