OK State jumps to No. 2 in BCS poll behind LSU

LSU, after outlasting Alabama in a defensive struggle on Saturday, has predictably maintained the top spot in the latest BCS poll, while the Oklahoma State Cowboys slid into the No. 2 position.

The Tigers (9-0) and Crimson Tide were No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in last week's BCS rankings, and Saturday's 9-6 overtime defeat in Tuscaloosa dropped Alabama (8-1) only one spot in this week's poll to No. 3.

Oklahoma State (9-0) upended Kansas State in a shootout on Saturday to move into the coveted second spot, while fellow unbeatens Stanford (9-0) and Boise State (8-0) lurk at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

The Cardinal could possibly improve in the poll considerably with a win next Saturday against Oregon, which sits at No. 7.

Oklahoma is No. 6, while Arkansas, Clemson and Virginia Tech round out the top-10.

The BCS system, in place since 1998, is computed by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive poll, USA Today poll and computer rankings. The top two teams at the end of the season will square off in the national championship game.
