Ohio State crushes High Point

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Kam Williams had 23 points off the bench to lead 12th-ranked Ohio State to a 97-43 rout of High Point on Wednesday.
D'Angelo Russell netted 18 points with nine rebounds, while Jae'Sean Tate tallied 12 points and Shannon Scott added 11 for the Buckeyes (7-1).
"I was very pleased with what I saw," said OSU coach Thad Matta. "When we kept things simple, we were effective."

John Brown led the Panthers (6-3) with 19 points in the loss.
Williams scored the final eight points of a 15-4 run early in the contest that gave Ohio State a 25-12 lead. He was the Buckeyes' go-to scorer in the opening half as he kept up his surge with a three-point play following a Brown jumper, then added a pair of free throws to make it a 30-18 game with 4:20 remaining in the opening half.
Sam Thompson ended Ohio State's string of 13 straight points scored by Williams with a 3-pointer, and the Buckeyes closed the half on a 13-4 run for a 43-24 lead at the break.

Russell scored the final five points of a 10-0 run that pushed the margin to 53-25 less than three minutes into the second and Ohio State cruised the rest of the way.

This was the first meeting between the schools ... Thompson had 10 points in the win ... The Buckeyes shot 62.5 percent from the floor and limited High Point to 32.1 percent shooting ... Ohio State had a 47-20 rebounding advantage.
