Ohio State cruises past UMass-Lowell

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - D'Angelo Russell had 16 points and six assists to lead 20th-ranked Ohio State to a 92-55 victory over UMass-Lowell in the season opener for both schools.
Sam Thompson and Marc Loving had 14 points apiece and Anthony Lee added 13 for the Buckeyes (1-0), who finished last season with a 25-10 mark.
Jahad Thomas had 18 points and five rebounds for the River Hawks (0-1), who are competing at the Division I level for just the second season.

A Thompson 3-pointer early in the game started a 14-0 run for Ohio State as Lee capped the burst with a pair of free throws for a 23-8 advantage seven minutes in.
Loving hit a 3-pointer in the closing stages of the first half to give the team a 47-25 lead at the break.
UMass-Lowell failed to get closer than 21 back in the second half.
