No. 8 Terps handle Yellow Jackets

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Katie Rutan, Brionna Jones and Alyssa Thomas powered eighth-ranked Maryland past Georgia Tech, 79-62, on Sunday.
Rutan and Jones each had 15 points and six rebounds apiece and Thomas had 15 points, 10 boards and five assists for the Terrapins (22-5, 10-4 ACC), who have won six of their last seven.
Kaela Davis totaled 21 points and 11 rebounds and Tyaunna Marshall added 11 points and six boards for the Yellow Jackets (17-10, 7-7), who have lost two straight. Roddreka Rogers, Sydney Wallace and Aaliyah Whiteside all had 10 points apiece.

Maryland scored the first seven to open the contest. Georgia Tech came within one before a 13-4 run by the Terrapins separated the teams further and gave a 25-16 lead with just over 6 1/2 left in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 35-26 at the half and was the closest they came the rest of the way.
