No. 8 Terps handle Yellow Jackets
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Katie Rutan, Brionna Jones and Alyssa Thomas powered eighth-ranked Maryland past Georgia Tech, 79-62, on Sunday.
Rutan and Jones each had 15 points and six rebounds apiece and Thomas had 15 points, 10 boards and five assists for the Terrapins (22-5, 10-4 ACC), who have won six of their last seven.
Kaela Davis totaled 21 points and 11 rebounds and Tyaunna Marshall added 11 points and six boards for the Yellow Jackets (17-10, 7-7), who have lost two straight. Roddreka Rogers, Sydney Wallace and Aaliyah Whiteside all had 10 points apiece.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Maryland scored the first seven to open the contest. Georgia Tech came within one before a 13-4 run by the Terrapins separated the teams further and gave a 25-16 lead with just over 6 1/2 left in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 35-26 at the half and was the closest they came the rest of the way.
