Villanova, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh Hart and Darrun Hilliard each scored 20 points as No. 7 Villanova routed Temple, 85-62, in a Philadelphia Big 5 matchup on Sunday.
JayVaughn Pinkston netted 12 points and Daniel Ochefu finished with 10 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats (10-0), who have won eight of their last 11 games against Temple at the Pavilion.
"It felt great, just had the same confidence that I've had in the past games and I felt good going in," Hilliard said. "I had to make plays, it just so happened that it was in a Big 5 game."
Quenton DeCosey finished with 18 points, Will Cummings scored 14 and Obi Enechionyia chipped in with 10 points and three blocks for the Owls (6-4), who were coming off a 76-64 win over Towson on Wednesday.
"(Villanova) has a very talented team," Owls head coach Fran Dunphy said. "We can play harder. We can do a better job. Maybe there was a loose ball here or there that we didn't get to, that they did."
Hilliard capped Villanova's 11-0 run with a trey for a 15-4 lead 7:23 into the contest.
After Josh Brown and Enechionyia each drained 3-pointers, a pair of DeCosey free throws helped Temple pull within five. The Wildcats went ahead 21-12 on Ochefu's layup and two Hilliard foul shots with 8:30 remaining in the first half.
Hilliard and Hart each knocked down a shot from beyond with under two minutes to play and Dylan Ennis' jumper with seven seconds left helped Villanova take a 39-26 lead into the break.
Hart's trey just over five minutes into the second half ended an 8-2 spurt for a 51-35 advantage.
Ryan Arcidiacono and Hilliard put the game out of reach with back-to-back triples during a 9-0 run for a 67-43 lead with 8:13 to go and Villanova led by at least 13 points the rest of the way.
