Knoxville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jennifer O'Neill poured in a game-high 24 points to lead No. 18 Kentucky to 75-71 victory over eighth-ranked Tennessee on Sunday.
DeNesha Stallworth scored 17 and grabbed nine rebounds and Janee Thompson chipped in 15 points and seven assists for the Wildcats (19-6, 7-5 SEC), who have won two straight.
Isabelle Harrison and Bashaara Graves netted 20 and brought down 16 and seven boards, respectively, for Tennessee (20-5, 9-3), which had a six-game win streak snapped.
The largest lead for either team in the first 20 minutes of the game was five points. There were five lead changes and four ties in the half. Kentucky finished the half with an 8-4 burst and took a 38-34 lead into the break.
The second half started off back-and-forth and with 17:13 on the clock the score was knotted at 42 apiece. The Lady Volunteers scored the next four, however, the Wildcats went on a 14-2 spurt to take a 56-48 lead.
The Lady Volunteers came back and took the lead, 65-64, after a Harrison jumper with 6:14 remaining, however, the Wildcats closed out the final four minutes with a 9-2 surge to win the game.
