Lincoln, NE (SportsNetwork.com) - Tear'a Laudermill had 27 points and four assists as the No. 16 Nebraska Cornhuskers handily defeated the No. 8 Penn State Lady Lions, 94-74.
Jordan Hooper contributed a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double as the Cornhuskers (21-5, 11-3 Big Ten) extended their winning streak to eight games. Rachel Theriot had 17 points and a game-high eight assists, while Emily Cady scored 14 points in the win.
Ariel Edwards paced the Lady Lions (21-6, 12-3) with a career-high 24 points. Maggie Lucas and Dara Taylor scored 17 points and 10 points, respectively, while Talia East supplied 12 rebounds.
Penn State entered the game on a four game win streak and was denied its first-ever unbeaten Big Ten road season.
Laudermill hit back-to-back triples as the Cornhuskers scored eight unanswered points to take a 21-7 advantage five minutes into the first half.
Edwards helped the Lady Lions cut into the deficit by draining two 3-pointers in a 10-2 burst halfway through the stanza, but a Laudermill jumper closed out an 11-0 run to make it 52-30 heading into the break.
Nebraska's lead swelled to 32 points on the heels of an 11-2 spurt eight minutes into the final stanza.
The Lady Lions did trim the deficit, however, after a 14-1 run made it a 76-57 game with 8:09 remaining, but the Cornhuskers maintained their commanding lead down the stretch.
