Thibodaux, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Nicholls State has named Tim Rebowe as its new head football coach.

A former assistant at Nicholls for six years, Rebowe will become the 10th head coach in the program's history. He has spent the past 11 years as an assistant at Louisiana.

"Coach Rebowe brings extensive recruiting and coaching expertise and tons of enthusiasm to the Nicholls football program," said Nicholls president Dr. Bruce Murphy. "I'm excited to welcome Tim back to Nicholls, and I'm confident that he will bring a competitive spirit to the football program while spreading Colonel pride throughout the Bayou Region."

Rebowe was an assistant at Nicholls from 1995-2000, then spent three years at Louisiana-Monroe before his 11-year stint at Louisiana.

Nicholls finished the 2014 season 0-12 and has lost 18 straight games dating back to 2013.

The Colonels were led for the final nine games of the season by Steve Axman, who was named the interim coach after Charlie Stubbs resigned in September because of health issues.
