New York, NY – The National Hockey League revealed its 2012-13 schedule on Thursday.
However, the start of the campaign is contingent on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement being negotiated, as the current deal between the owners and NHLPA will expire in September. A labor dispute resulted in the cancellation of the 2004-05 season.
If the upcoming season is devoid of any delays, the Philadelphia Flyers will host the Boston Bruins in one of four games slated for opening night on October 11.
The other contests feature the Ottawa Senators clashing with the Canadiens in Montreal, the visiting St. Louis Blues battling the Colorado Avalanche and the Vancouver Canucks traveling to Calgary to take on the Flames.
The Los Angeles Kings will raise their first Stanley Cup banner the next night before dropping the puck against the New York Rangers.
A pair of Original Six clubs will face off at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor as the Detroit Red Wings meet the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Winter Classic on New Year's Day.
The league will take a break from January 24-28 for the NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus.
The final day of the regular season is April 13.
