New York's Marquez suspended three games

Red Bull New York's Rafa Marquez was suspended three games Thursday for violent conduct, days after his reckless foul injured San Jose Earthquakes' Shea Salinas.
Marquez tackled Salinas, jumped on his opponent, and then kicked him before he got up off the ground. Salinas suffered a broken clavicle and may be sidelined up to eight weeks.
Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee dished out the suspension, ruling Marquez was guilty of "violent conduct that demonstrated blatant disregard for the safety of his opponent."

Marquez will start the suspension Sunday when New York visits D.C. United in an Eastern Conference clash. He will also miss matches against the New England Revolution and the Los Angeles Galaxy.
San Jose's Marvin Chavez was also suspended Thursday, for just one match for a tackle that endangered the safety of his opponent in the same fixture. Chavez will miss Saturday's Western Conference clash with Real Salt Lake. . Both players were also fined an undisclosed amount.
