New York's Henry named MLS Player of the Month

Red Bull New York forward Thierry Henry earned his first MLS Player of the Month award Thursday.

Henry had five goals and three assists in four March matches, with four goals and two assists over the last two games, wins over the Colorado Rapids and the Montreal Impact.

The former French international had two goals against Colorado and a hat trick against Montreal. He also had an assist each game.

Henry was named MLS Player of the Week twice in March, in Weeks 3 and 4. Henry is the first Red Bull to win player of the month since Juan Pablo Angel earned the honor in both May and June in 2007.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Joe Cannon and San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski were second and third, respectively, in the March player of the month voting.
