Nevada holds off upset-minded Adams State from the line, 69-64 in season opener

D.J. Fenner and A.J. West combined to score 35 points and West grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds as Nevada built an early double-digit lead, then held on to beat Division II Adams State, 69-64 in the Wolfpack's season opener Monday night.
Adams trailed by as many as 13 points early in the second have but battled back. Shakir Smith hit a pair of free throws to make it a two-point game at 64-62 with :30 left. Smith added a layup with :08 left, but Nevada's Marqueze Coleman went 4-for-4 from the line to put the game away.
Fenner scored a team-high 18 points. West added 17 points, pulling down 10 offensive rebounds.

Smith led Adams State with 21 points on 8-for-24 shooting, converting 3 of 11 shots from behind the arc. Michael Middlebrooks and Travante Williams each added 14 points, the latter coming off the bench.
