Nance scores 21 points and Wyoming wins its opener 78-70 over Northern Colorado

Larry Nance Jr. scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Wyoming to a 78-70 victory over Northern Colorado on Sunday.

All five Cowboys starters scored in double figures. Josh Adams had 14 points, Riley Grabau 13, Charles Hankerson Jr. 12 and Derek Cooke Jr. 10. Wyoming (1-0) made 26 of 42 shots from the floor for 61.9 percent. The Cowboys made 44.4 percent of their 3-pointers on 8-of-18 shooting.

Cameron Michael scored 21 points and Cody McDavis 17 for the Bears (1-1).

The game was close throughout with Wyoming leading 36-34 at halftime. The Cowboys maintained a slim lead until the Bears caught them at 58-58 tie with 6:13 left in the game on Tim Huskisson's layup. But the Cowboys went on a 14-4 run to go up 72-62 with 1:52 remaining. The Bears wouldn't get closer than eight points after that.
