D'Angelo Jackson scored 28 points and had seven assists to lead Mississippi Valley State to a 74-70 win over Alabama State on Monday.

Jackson had an efficient night, making 6 of 10 shots from the field, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range. He also made 11 of 13 free throws. Paul Crosby added 14 points and four steals.

Mississippi Valley (3-13, 2-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) shot 55.8 percent from the field (24 of 43) and 61.5 percent from 3-point range (8 of 13). The Delta Devils won despite committing 22 turnovers.

Alabama State (5-12, 2-2) was led by Jeffery Middlebrooks, who scored 18 points. Ivory White scored 14 points and Shareif Adamu added 11.

Mississippi Valley led 45-40 at halftime.
