Morales helps Levante stun Valencia

Valencia, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Jose Luis Morales' late second-half tally proved to be the difference on Sunday as Levante stunned Valencia, 2-1, at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Levante entered the match second from the bottom in La Liga, but were riding a modest two-game unbeaten streak hoping to escape the bottom three with a win.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes, the home side broke the deadlock in the 58th minute through a goal from Victor Casadesus, but Valencia pulled level in the 74th minute with an equalizer from Daniel Parejo.

But just seconds later, Morales hit for the winner to give all three points to Levante and lift the club out of the bottom three and into 13th place in La Liga with 12 points from 12 matches played.

Valencia suffered its second defeat of the season and drops to fourth in the table on 24 points.

Also in Spain's top flight on Sunday, Rayo Vallecano claimed an important three points with a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo courtesy of a 20th-minute strike from Alberto Bueno.

Jonathas netted his sixth goal of the campaign to rescue a point for Elche as the club played to a 2-2 stalemate with Cordoba.

Finally on Sunday, Mario Gaspar and Gerard Moreno netted first-half goals as Villarreal claimed a 2-1 win over Getafe at the Camp El Madrigal.
