The Montreal Impact and coach Jesse Marsch mutually agreed to part ways Saturday, just one week after expansion franchise wrapped up its first MLS season.
The 38-year-old Marsch led Montreal to a 12-16-6 record and seventh place in the Eastern Conference in his first season as a head coach. Despite the strong debut, the decision was "made mutually for the benefit of the club," Montreal president Joey Saputo said.
"While we had the same long-term objectives for this team," Saputo added, "we realized over the past few weeks that we did not share the same philosophy as how to get there."

Montreal also announced goalie coach Preston Burpo physical preparation coach Adam Rotchstein will not return next year. The Impact retained assistants Mike Sorber, Denis Hamlett and Mauro Biello.
