Montpellier edges Marseille to move into a tie for first

Montpellier continued its run of good 0 home win over Marseille to move into a tie for first place in Ligue 1.
Extending its unbeaten streak in league play to six games, Montpellier is deadlocked with PSG atop the French top flight with 30 points apiece. PSG has a game in hand, which it will play on Sunday against Nancy.
Montpellier was fortunate to claim the win, as the only goal of the match came in the 62nd minute on an own goal from Marseille defender Souleymane Diawara.

The loss snaps a seven-game Ligue 1 unbeaten run for Marseille, which has rebounded well in the league despite not claiming its first win of the season until Sept. 21.
Marseille sits in tenth place with 18 points from 14 games.
Evian 2, Lorient 1

Annecy, France - Evian extended its unbeaten streak to four games on Saturday, edging Lorient, 2-1, to secure its second win in its last three Ligue 1 matches.
Yannick Sagbo opened the scoring from the penalty spot in just the second minute of the match, but Gilles Sunu equalized two minutes after halftime. Daniel Wass, on loan from Benfica, tallied the winner for Evian in the 59th minute.
Lorient has lost two of its last three in Ligue 1, clinging to seventh place in the table.

St Etienne 2, Nice 0
Nice, France - St Etienne capitalized on a considerable advantage to top eight-man Nice, 2-0, in Ligue 1 action on Saturday.
With three Nice players receiving red cards over the course of the match, St Etienne earned a comfortable two-goal win with Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Kurt Zouma providing the telling goals.

Sinama-Pongolle converted from the penalty spot in the 24th minute and Zouma wrapped up the contest with his strike in the 39th minute, helping St Etienne move into a tie with Lorient for seventh place with 20 points apiece.
Nice has lost three of its last four in Ligue 1 and is struggling to get out of the relegation zone.
Dijon 2, Bordeaux 0

Dijon, France - Dijon scored four minutes apart in the second half to top Bordeaux 2-0 on Saturday and snap a four-game losing skid.
Brice Jovial secured the win with his goal in the 69th minute and Benjamin Corgnet added another in the 73rd minute to complete the scoring.
The win sees Dijon, 14 points, move into 14th place in the Ligue 1 table, one point and one spot ahead of Bordeaux.

Ajaccio 2, Caen 2
Ajaccio, France - Ajaccio struck late to earn a dramatic 2-2 draw at home against Caen on Saturday.
Ilan had given last-place Ajaccio the lead from the penalty spot in the 51st minute, but Caen responded with goals from Molla Wague and Lenny Nangis just seven minutes apart.

It seemed as if Caen was destined to secure a road win against the Ligue 1 bottom-feeders, but Benjamin Andre notched a goal in the 90th minute to salvage a point for Ajaccio.
Caen moves into ninth place in the table, one point ahead of Marseille, while Ajaccio, winless in its last nine matches, sits last in Ligue 1 with just eight points on the year.
