BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State has rolled out a new Bobcat logo and block letter "M'' that school officials say reflects the "dynamic state" of the school's teams.
The Bobcat moves away from a stylized logo introduced in 2004 to a bit more realistic-looking Bobcat head. The "M'' that appears on football helmets was changed to look less like the block "M'' used by Michigan and Missouri.
The university paid Torch Creative $18,000 to redesign the Bobcat logo and the "M."
Athletic director Peter Fields says changing the logo on the football field will cost about $40,000 while other stadium changes will cost $10,000.
Apparel with the new Bobcat logo is already available.
