Montana holds on to earn eighth-straight victory over Montana State, 53-50

Michael Weisner scored 11 points and hit a late 3-pointer to help Montana earn its eighth-straight victory over Montana State, 53-50 on Monday night.

The Grizzlies (16-11, 11-7 Big Sky) shot 42.6 percent from the field. Keron DeShields and Jordan Gregory led Montana with 13 points apiece, and DeShields had eight boards.

Montana State (14-15 9-9) was led by Paul Egwuonwu and Flavien Davis, each finishing with 14 points and six boards. The Bobcats were 0 for 7 beyond the arc.

Montana erased an eight-point deficit, closing the first half on a 14-3 run, with a DeShields 3-pointer giving them the lead at halftime. Kareem Jamar made a layup to put the Grizzlies up 42-29 in the second half. MSU crawled within two late, but Weisner answered with a trey.

Egwuonwu made a layup, and Michael Dison couldn't hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds following a DeShields turnover.
