Mondragon and Valdes join Philadelphia Union
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon, the 39-year-old former starter for Colombia's national team, has agreed to a contract with Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union along with Colombian defender Carlos Valdes.
Mondragon terminated his contract last month with Cologne in Germany's Bundesliga. The 25-year-old Valdes is transferring from Colombia's Independiente Santa Fe.
A member of Colombia's 1992 Olympics team and 1998 World Cup team, Mondragon has made 50 international appearances, the last in October during a 0-0 tie against the U.S. at Chester. Among his past teams are Deportivo Cali. Argentina's Atletico Independiente, Spain's Real Zaragoza, France's Metz and Turkey's Galatasaray.
