Goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon, the 39-year-old former starter for Colombia's national team, has agreed to a contract with Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union along with Colombian defender Carlos Valdes.

Mondragon terminated his contract last month with Cologne in Germany's Bundesliga. The 25-year-old Valdes is transferring from Colombia's Independiente Santa Fe.

A member of Colombia's 1992 Olympics team and 1998 World Cup team, Mondragon has made 50 international appearances, the last in October during a 0-0 tie against the U.S. at Chester. Among his past teams are Deportivo Cali. Argentina's Atletico Independiente, Spain's Real Zaragoza, France's Metz and Turkey's Galatasaray.

Valdes has made four appearances for his national team. He also has played for America of Cali.
