    Latinos will be leading the charge in this year's MLB playoffs.

    It has been a history making year for the Detroit Tigers' third baseman Miguel Cabrera. The first Triple Crown winner in baseball since 1967, Cabrera is no stranger to success in October, looking to guide the Detroit Tigers to their first championship since 1984. As a 20-year-old, the Venezuelan played an integral role when the Florida Marlins won the NL Wild Card and the World Series. He will be looking to do the same this time with the Tigers.

    The St. Louis Cardinals' Puerto Rican outfielder Carlos Beltrán owns the highest slugging percentage (.819) and on base plus slugging percentage (1.2979) in the history of the postseason. Since being acquired from the San Francisco Giants, the 35-year-old has been key to the Cardinals offense. Over a span of 10 games in the NLDS, Beltran is hitting .385 with six home runs and 13 RBIs. He's carried his offensive exploits to the LCS with a .353 average, seven home runs and 14 RBIs.

    Rookie Manny Machado, whose parents are from the Dominican Republic, played a key role in the revival of the Baltimore franchise. The 20-year-old spent most of the season in a Double-A minor league and was promoted to the big club on Aug. 9. His arrival meant an instant improvement in the Baltimore's team defense as he shifted over from shortstop to third base, a position he played there only two times in the minors this season.

    Washington National's pitcher Gio González has had the best season of his career, finishing the regular season 21-8 and leading the league in wins. With phenom Stephen Strasburg having been shut down three weeks ago, González's presence on the rotation has been crucial. The Cuban lefty is one of the top candidates for the NL Cy Young Award.

    Oakland Athletic's outfielder, Cuban Yoenis Céspedes, started off slow in the beginning of the season before ending on a high note (.311, 14, 46). The 26-year-old rookie finished the season with a team-leading .292 average, along with 23 home runs, and 82 RBIs.
