Mercury down Fever for first win of season

Diana Taurasi had 26 points and five assists as the Phoenix Mercury picked up their first win of the season with an 82-67 decision over defending-champion Indiana on Saturday.

The win came without star center Brittney Griner who missed the game due to a left knee sprain.

DeWanna Bonner scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Lynetta Kizer and Candice Dupree added 10 points apiece for the Mercury.

Shavonte Zellous scored a season-high 29 points and Tamika Catchings added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Fever, who shot just 37 percent from the field but went 8-for-15 from beyond the arc in defeat.
