Melzer rolls; Haase, Tursunov exit Den Bosch
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}'s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands (Sports Network) - Third-seeded Jurgen Melzer was an easy winner, while fourth seed Robin Haase of the host nation and defending champion Dmitry Tursunov were sent packing Monday at the $500,000 UNICEF Open, a final grass-court Wimbledon tune-up.
The Austrian left-hander Melzer mauled Russian Igor Kunitysn 6-1, 6-1 in 55 minutes, while unknown Croatian wild card Mate Pavic ousted the Dutchman Haase 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) at Autotron Rosmalen.
Tursunov succumbed to German qualifier Philipp Petzschner in 6-4, 6-2 fashion on Day 2. The Russian Tursunov beat Ivan Dodig in last year's finale here.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Dodig, like Tursunov, will not be making a return trip to the UNICEF final, as the Croat lost to Italian Paolo Lorenzi 6-4, 6-4 on Monday.
Additional wins came for Colombian Alejandro Falla, Japanese Tatsuma Ito, France's Benoit Paire, Argentine Leonardo Mayer, and Belgian Olivier Rochus
This week's top seeds, Spaniard David Ferrer and Serb Viktor Troicki, will open their Den Bosch stays on Tuesday. Ferrer titled here in 2008.
