Massaquoi, Spitz released by Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars released wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and guard/center Jason Spitz on Monday.

Massaquoi signed with the Jaguars in the offseason after spending the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns. The 26-year-old Massaquoi, once thought to be a starting candidate early in the season while Justin Blackmon serves a four-game suspension, fell down the depth chart. He had just two receptions in the first two preseason games.

With the Browns, the Georgia product totaled 118 catches for 1,745 yards and seven touchdowns.

Spitz, 30, spent the 2012 season with the Jaguars on injured reserve. He played 10 games as a reserve for the club in 2011.
