Marsiglia takes over for Roy at Nice

Rene Marsiglia has replaced Eric Roy as coach of French side Nice, with the former manager handed a new position as general manager of the Ligue 1 club, it was announced Tuesday.

Nice has just two wins this season and sits 17th in the 20-team Ligue 1, this one season after it narrowly avoided relegation.

Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere relieved Roy of his duties as head coach on Tuesday, and made him general manager - a role similar to the one he held with the club before replacing former coach Didier Olle-Nicolle,

Marsiglia was an assistant under Roy and will take over the first team until a permanent manager has been found, according to the Ligue 1 website.

Nice returns from the international break Saturday against St. Etienne.
