Miami, FL – The Miami Marlins placed outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 8, and activated outfielder Emilio Bonifacio off the 15-day DL Friday.
Stanton, who is recovering from surgery to remove loose bodies from his right knee, is batting .284 with 20 doubles, 19 home runs and 50 RBI through 80 games this season.
Bonifacio has been on the shelf since May 19 after undergoing surgery to repair a ligament in his left thumb.
He was hitting .268 with six home runs, 20 runs batted in and 19 runs scored with 20 stolen bases in 39 games before suffering the injury.
