Seattle, WA – Veteran catcher Miguel Olivo is headed for free agency after the Seattle Mariners declined a 2013 club option on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old Olivo appeared in 87 games for the Mariners this past season, batting .222 with 12 homers and 29 RBI. For his career, he has clubbed 141 homers and driven in 479 runs.
Seattle also released infielder Munenori Kawasaki. An eight-time All-Star in Japan's Pacific League, Kawasaki, 31, completed his first campaign in the majors by hitting .192 in 61 games.
