Mardy Fish wins 1st US Open match in straight sets

Mardy Fish looked the part of the highest-seeded American at the U.S. Open, easily winning his first-round match Monday.
The eighth-seeded Fish beat Germany's Tobias Kamke 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 in an hour, 43 minutes. The 29-year-old Fish is the highest-seeded American at the Flushing Meadows for the first time.
Fish did it in style, hitting a shot between his legs in the match's final game. He converted 7 of 8 break-point chances.

The 25-year-old Kamke, ranked No. 92, was looking for his first U.S. Open victory in his second appearance.
