Marchand continues to light the lamp

PHILADELPHIA -- Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand had another big game against the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 2.

After scoring twice in the series opener, his goal with 5:45 left in the first period of Game 2 capped a quick-strike Boston rally that took all the air out of a raucous Wells Fargo Center.

Marchand discussed his goal, as well as the play of goaltender Tim Thomas, after the game:

Q: What was it like out there tonight?

Marchand: It was really tough. They had a big start. We did a great job battling back. They really took it to us there in the third and in overtime. Timmy made some unbelievable saves to keep us in it, and it was great we rallied together and got the big win. But it was tough out there.

Q: You guys are 4-0 in overtimes now. Does this team find a certain comfort level when the game hits a fourth period?

Marchand: That line (David Krejci, Nathan Horton, Milan Lucic) seems to keep stepping up. They just have the confidence right now when we go into overtime. We know anything can happen in overtime, and we know it's usually a lucky bounce, a lucky goal. Anything can happen, we know that but we're pretty confident when we go into OT.

Q: What does it mean to get the first two here on the road?

Marchand: It's huge. It gives you a lot of confidence going home. But what happened last year, and we saw it with Montreal in our (first round) series, they won the first two (on the road) and lost the first two at home. We have to make sure we play as hard as we did on the road here.

Q: Can you talk about the play Patrice (Bergeron) made on the backcheck before he set up your goal?

Marchand: I told him when we got back to the bench it was all him. He did a great job saving a goal and made a great play getting it up to me. I think Bergy saw me. He knew I was curling up and I think that was a defenseman popping over to him and he knew that lane was open. He knew where to throw the puck.

Q: What does this game say about your confidence level as team?

Marchand: They (the Flyers) played great tonight. They were all over us. It easily could have been 8-1, 8-2 at one point. It was great we had Timmy there backing us up. It's good we can have a team push like that against us and we were able to push back and come through at a clutch time.
