Love undergoes shoulder surgery, out 4-6 months

Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love underwent successful surgery Wednesday afternoon on his dislocated left shoulder and is expected to miss the remainder of the playoffs, the team announced.

The surgery was performed by Dr. David W. Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, and the projected recovery time is 4-to-6 months.

Love, who is a free agent after this season, was injured in the first quarter of Sunday's win over Boston, which completed a first-round series sweep. Boston forward Kelly Olynyk clutched Love as the two players went to chase after a loose ball, yanking on his arm and jarring it away from his body.

On Monday, the NBA suspended Olynyk one game without pay.

"I thought it was a bush-league play," Love told reporters after the game. "I was out there and Olynyk was in a compromising position and had no chance to get the ball. It's just too bad that he would go to those lengths to take somebody out of a game and do that to someone. I had no doubt in my mind that he did that on purpose."

Love, playing in his first postseason, averaged 14.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game against Boston.

The Cavaliers will face the winner of the Bulls-Bucks series.
