Lenhart tabbed as MLS Player of the Week

San Jose Earthquakes forward Steven Lenhart was named the Major League Soccer Player of the Week for Week 8 on Monday.

Lenhart scored two goals in San Jose's 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday at PPL Park after coming off the bench in the 60th minute.

Fellow substitute Marvin Chavez set up Lenhart's first goal with a chipped pass that was headed past goalkeeper Zac MacMath.

And after the Union had equalized and the match entered stoppage time, Chavez and Lenhart teamed up again to score a late winner with Lenhart nodding home a driven cross from Chavez from close range.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, radio media. More information can be found at soccerreporters.com.
