Lakers' Gasol has plantar fasciitis

The Los Angeles Lakers announced All-Star forward Pau Gasol has plantar fasciitis in his right foot, but is expected to play through the injury.

An MRI revealed the inflammation on Thursday, just over a week after Gasol returned from an eight-game absence while dealing with tendinitis in both of his knees.

Despite the ailment, the Lakers' Twitter feed stated Gasol is probable for Friday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The 32-year-old Spaniard played 29-plus minutes in each of the four games since coming back, which included a 19-point, six-rebounds effort over 37 minutes in a loss to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

For the season, the 12-year veteran is averaging a career-low 12.6 points to go with 8.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists over 21 games.
